Avera St. Anthony’s
Hospital Respiratory Care department serves all age groups of inpatients and
specialty clinic outpatients and is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week by
qualified, registered personnel. Prior to establishing the department in
l970 all respiratory services were contracted from larger hospitals.
Services include:
- Stress Tests
- Stress Echo’s
- Dobutamine Stress Tests,
- Holter Monitors,
- Event Monitoring
- Cardiologists EKG’s and Signal Averaging
- Sleep Diagnostic Studies
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- EEG testing
- ABG analysis
SPECIALTY CLINICS

Cardiology Clinics:
Avera St. Anthony’s cardiology clinics, established in l978, were the
first specialty clinics in O’Neill.
Currently cardiologists from Norfolk, Omaha and Sioux City hold cardiology
clinics each month at Avera St. Anthony’s. Consults are from the
Cardiolvascular Institute, Creighton Cardiology and Cardiovascular
Associates.
- Pulmonary:
Lon Keim M.D., from the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, is a pulmonary
consultant and brought the first cardiology clinic to Avera St. Anthony’s
Hospital in l978.
Michael Pietila M.D., from Avera Sacred Heart
in Yankton, is the newest pulmonologist to hold a specialty clinic at Avera
St. Anthony’s.
Respiratory Care
therapy includes application and monitoring of mechanical ventilator
support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, administration of
pharmacologic agents through aerosol treatments and hemodynamic monitoring
and cardiovascular support.
